Welcome to My New Portfolio: Built Entirely with AI

Welcome to My New Portfolio: Built Entirely with AI

I'm excited to launch this new professional portfolio, and I want to share something that demonstrates exactly the kind of modern technology expertise I bring to my consulting work: this entire website was designed, developed, and deployed using AI tools through Manus.im.

Why This Matters

For over 40 years, I've been helping organizations navigate technology transformation. Today, that means understanding not just what AI can do, but what it should do—and how to implement it practically. Building this portfolio with AI isn't just a proof of concept; it's a demonstration of a critical skill that every modern IT leader needs: the ability to leverage AI as a force multiplier.

The Process: From Concept to Live Site in Hours

Traditional web development projects can take weeks or months. With Manus.im, I went from concept to a fully functional, professionally designed website in a matter of hours. Here's what that process looked like:

Design and Strategy

I started with a clear vision: create a portfolio that reflects both my decades of executive IT experience and my forward-looking expertise in AI. Working with Manus, I described the aesthetic I wanted—what I called "Executive Modernism"—a design that balances authority with innovation. The AI understood the brief and generated a complete design system, including typography (Playfair Display paired with Plus Jakarta Sans), a color palette (deep navy for trust, electric teal for innovation), and a layout structure that positions me as both a seasoned executive and a technology innovator.

Development Without Code

Here's where it gets interesting. I didn't write a single line of code myself. Instead, I collaborated with Manus to build every feature:

Full-Stack Architecture. The site isn't just static HTML. It's a complete web application with a backend server, database, and API layer. This allows for dynamic features like the blog you're reading right now.

Contact Form Integration. Rather than using a generic third-party form service, the site has a custom-built contact system that sends inquiries directly to my email via the Resend API. Every submission is also logged in the database, ensuring I never lose a lead.

Blog Content Management. I have a private admin panel at /admin/blog where I can create, edit, and publish articles. The system supports Markdown formatting, draft/published workflows, and automatic URL slug generation. It took less than an hour to build.

Google Calendar Integration. Every "Schedule a Meeting" button links directly to my Google Calendar scheduler, making it effortless for potential clients to book time with me.

Deployment and Hosting

Manus handles the entire deployment pipeline. The site is hosted on Manus infrastructure with automatic SSL certificates, a content delivery network for fast global access, and built-in analytics. I can connect my custom domain (randyburgoyne.com) through a simple settings panel—no DevOps expertise required.

What This Demonstrates About My Consulting Approach

Building this site with AI illustrates several principles I bring to every client engagement:

Practical Application Over Hype. AI is a tool, not magic. I used it to solve real problems: creating a professional web presence quickly, integrating multiple services seamlessly, and building features that would traditionally require a development team.

Speed and Efficiency. In consulting, time is money. The ability to prototype, iterate, and deploy solutions rapidly means faster time-to-value for my clients. What used to take weeks now takes hours.

Hands-On Technical Fluency. I don't just advise on technology—I use it. I understand the capabilities and limitations of modern AI tools because I work with them daily. This hands-on experience informs every recommendation I make.

Strategic Thinking. Building a website isn't just about aesthetics or functionality. It's about positioning, messaging, and conversion. Every element of this site—from the headline ("Strategic IT Leadership for the AI Era") to the call-to-action buttons—was strategically designed to communicate value and drive engagement.

The Future of IT Leadership

The role of a CIO or IT leader is evolving. It's no longer enough to manage infrastructure and vendors. Today's technology executives must be fluent in AI, comfortable with rapid iteration, and capable of translating complex technical concepts into business value. They need to understand prompt engineering, API integrations, and low-code/no-code platforms just as much as they understand network architecture and cybersecurity.

This portfolio is proof that I don't just talk about the future of technology—I live it. I use the same tools I recommend to my clients. I understand the challenges of AI adoption because I've experienced them firsthand. And I know how to cut through the noise to deliver solutions that actually work.
